Following my question to the Prime Minister on the 14th April on the lack of British Sign Language, the Prime Minister said he would revert back to me while giving an incredibly weak response.

You can read his letter to me below.

Dear Vicky,

I am writing following your question at Prime Minister’s Question Time on 14 April.

I completely agree that we need to ensure the accessibility of vital public health information to all communities across the UK.

This is why we have worked with the BBC to establish British Sign Language interpretation at No10 coronavirus press conferences.

The Cabinet Office has established provision for a British Sign Language interpreter based in a separate studio for use on our social media channels. This has also been made freely available to key broadcasters.

The Cabinet Office also holds regular meetings with local government and representatives from the Disabled Charities Consortium to ensure that Covid-19 announcements are available in accessible formats.

Best wishes,

Boris
