Thank you to everyone who has been in touch with serious concerns about Andrew Mountbatten Windsor’s conduct. I share this strength of feeling.
As you may know, on 30 October 2025, Buckingham Palace announced that the King had initiated a formal process to strip Mountbatten Windsor of all his styles, titles and honours. This step was taken after consultation with the Government, and with the Government’s full support.
I know questions have also been raised about Mountbatten Windsor’s lease of Royal Lodge, a property owned by the Crown Estate. Buckingham Palace has confirmed the Crown Estate has given notice to end this lease. It is still open to Parliamentary Committees to pursue inquiries into Mountbatten Windsor if they wish to do so. For example, on 29 October 2025, the Chair of the House of Commons Public Accounts Committee wrote to the Crown Estate with questions about Royal Lodge.
More widely, the statement from Buckingham Palace concluded by saying the King and Queen “wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse”. The Government has also been clear in Parliament that any discussion of this issue needs to begin with the simple, important fact that at the heart of this should be remembering the victims of Jeffrey Epstein. As your MP, I share the sentiments expressed by both the King and Queen, and by the Government, about this matter. As such, I welcome the steps that have been taken by the King with the Government’s support.
