Thank you to everyone who has contacted me with their concerns about the ongoing crisis in Israel and Gaza.

The loss of life over this last week has been devastating. Flashpoints like this in the Israeli- Palestinian conflict make clear to me how much we need to find a peaceful resolution which is fair to both sides as soon as possible. For the sakes of the Israeli and Palestinian people, we cannot continue like this.

I do not believe that there is any justification for the targeting of innocent civilians by either side. Hamas must immediately release the hostages taken and return them to their loved ones.

I support a safe humanitarian corridor within and out of Gaza for civilians who wish to leave, and a peaceful return to their homes after the hostilities have ended. Food, water, electricity, and medicine must be provided to Gaza to avoid a worsening of the ongoing humanitarian crisis, with safe access for humanitarian aid organisations. I implore all those involved to act within international law.

I call for a renewed diplomatic push towards a two-state solution, which treats both sides with the respect that they deserve and listens to their grievances to find a compromise that will bring about peace. Israelis and Palestinians both deserve to be able to live in safe and prosperous societies.

I condemn any acts of antisemitism or Islamophobia in the wake of this crisis. Jewish and Muslim communities in the UK are not responsible for the actions of the Israeli Government or Hamas, and they should not be targeted in retaliation.

I urge everyone to treat these events with sensitivity and empathy. Thousands of people in Israel and Gaza are suffering. Many innocent people have lost their lives. Members of the Jewish, Palestinian, and Muslim communities in the UK may feel scared, angry, or worried for the security of their loved ones and their wellbeing. We must ensure that these communities feel safe and respected.

I will continue to raise this issue in Parliament and promote a peaceful and just resolution to this conflict.
