I’ve had a lot of emails about this afternoon’s debate on the Immigration and Social Security Co-ordination (EU Withdrawal) Bill. I’m still shielding so can’t be there in person to vote, but trust my proxy Chris Elmore to do the honours on my behalf.

Labour opposes the bill and we have tabled a number of amendments, including on no recourse to public funds, exempting NHS and social workers from the immigration health surcharge and putting a sunset clause on the so-called ‘Henry VIII powers’ the bill gives to the Government.

We also support cross-party amendments on a time limit on immigration detention, granting automatic Indefinite Leave to Remain to eligible EEA/Swiss national children who are in care/are care leavers and continuing existing EU arrangements on unaccompanied child refugees and family reunification.
