I know from my email inbox that the lack of personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical and care staff continues to be a big concern.

My Labour colleagues and I believe it must be an absolute and urgent priority for NHS and care staff to access testing and protective equipment.  We are seeking urgent clarification from ministers about what their plan is to secure necessary supplies, why action appears to have been taken so late, and why they have not initiated a universal, community-based testing and contact tracing programme, as was put in place in other countries.

Yesterday Jeremy Corbyn wrote to the Prime Minister with six key demands:

  1. Full PPE for health and social care workers.
  2. Test, test, test.
  3. Expand social care.
  4. Enforce social distancing and protection.
  5. Bolster support for workers.
  6. Lead a global response.

I would like to reassure you that my Labour colleagues and I continue to push the Government on this whenever and wherever we can.
