Crofton Park Station has recently been allocated £80,000 from a joint Thameslink and Network Rail Passenger Benefit Fund, as compensation for the disruptions caused by the botched timetable implementation in May 2018.

The Cinderella Line, a transport users group who are campaigning for improvements on the Catford Loop Line, have drawn up their list of priorities for the station which they are encouraging local residents to support before the end of the month.

Cinderella Line outline their priorities for Crofton Park station on their website, and they would like to see the fund be allocated to:

  1. Accessible signage:
As there isn’t enough money to install a lift/ramp, we believe there should be more signage for passengers to make it clear where it is easier to board the train and to make it easier to know where to find your way around the station and surrounding area
  2. Two new ticket machines:
To make our station fully accessible, there should be a ticket machine at platform level on both platforms so that anyone can purchase or collect their tickets without needing to use the stairs
  3. Relocate our existing ticket machine:
The location of the existing ticket machine creates a bottleneck of passengers in its current location. We propose to relocate it to remove this issue especially in rush hour.
  4. Improve station lighting:
Improve the station lighting at the Lindal Road exit of the station
  5. Explore Improvements to the footbridge:
We know that our existing footbridge needs major work and would take more than the entire budget to do. We propose to conduct a feasibility study to see what other options are available to reconfigure the stairs and bridge to make the station more accessible and improve passenger flow.
  6. Fesability to increase capacity:
If there is any money left over, we would like this to be put forward for a feasibility study to run 12 car trains on the Cinderella Line services to increase capacity.

They would also like to see 2% of the station funding allocated to the Cinderella Line Campaign, to allow them to continue their work and remove their need to apply for funding from the local assembly fund.

If you agree with the Cinderella Line’s proposals, or would like to add your own thoughts, please add your name to their submission on their website here: https://www.acinderellaline.com/single-post/2019/07/18/Ideas-Above-Our-Station

The more people who sign the submission makes it much more likely that the money will be allocated to these proposals, so please make sure you have your say before July 31st.
