Launch of the Bakerloo Line Upgrade and Extension Impact Assessment

It was a pleasure to be able to introduce this event celebrating the launch of the Bakerloo Line Upgrade and Extension Impact Assessment in Parliament. I have been campaigning for the Bakerloo line extension since 2010, back when I was a councillor in Brockley Ward.  

By creating almost 10,000 jobs directly and supporting over 140,000 indirectly, this upgrade to our infrastructure will ensure people can travel across London more easily, cutting down traffic congestion with over 20,000 less car trips daily and lowering travel times from Old Kent Road to Oxford Circus by a half. 

By boosting London’s economy by £1.5bn and further supporting the 20,400 homes currently in production, this extension will be pivotal for people across South London. I hope to see work on it begin soon.
