At Tory party conference Mel Stride, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, promised a “revolution” in employment support for people with health conditions and disabilities.

At Work and Pensions Questions today I asked my opposite number, Tom Pursglove, whether this revolution included the current backlog of 22,432 people waiting for an Access to Work decision, with an average delay of 48 days.

As usual, he didn’t seem to enjoy my question! But the fact is it is this Government’s own lack of real action that is often preventing disabled people from working.
