The Access to Work backlog has trebled since February 2020, rising to more than 25,000.

When I asked the Minister exactly how many additional staff are working to clear the backlog and when he expects it to return to pre-pandemic levels, he told me that tackling the backlog was his priority.

So why, in June 2023, is the backlog still as high as 22,809?

While this Government have said they want to get more people into employment, disabled people are consistently excluded from work because of unacceptable DWP delays.

A Labour government will fix the Access to Work scheme, with improved targets for assessment waiting times at reasonable time scales and by giving people who are looking for work ‘in principle’ indicative awards.
