Vicky Foxcroft MP for Lewisham Deptford & Shadow Minister for Disabled People
Alaa Abd El-Fattah is a British citizen & democratic activist who is currently imprisoned by the Egyptian Government in awful conditions. He has been perilously close to death due to hunger and water strikes in protest of his treatment by the Egyptian authorities.
I asked the Foreign Secretary to commit to making a statement at the upcoming UN Human Rights Council session to condemn Alaa’s imprisonment.
It is imperative that the Government does all that it can to ensure Alaa’s freedom and reunite him with his family.
