It’s our first day back in Parliament after the summer recess and I’ve already had chance to press health secretary Matt Hancock on better support for disabled people as we move through the COVID-19 crisis.

As usual all I got was a vague answer about people with different disabilities having different needs – think we know that already!

You can watch our exchange below, but this is the full text of my question:

“ONS data shows that 75% of disabled people are extremely worried about life post lockdown, and a further 46% report that this is having a serious impact on their mental health.

“Will the Minister tell me what the Government is doing to support them and will he commit to ensuring that disabled people – who have felt like an afterthought throughout this crisis – are at the heart of any recovery plan, as called for by Scope and many other charities?”
