I will be re-standing to be the MP for Lewisham Deptford, in the hopes of continuing to represent my local community and voice the issues we face at a national level.

It has been an honour to represent my local area these past two years. We have a lot to be proud of: our diverse community, our independent businesses and our thriving art sector. But it has been a battle against a Conservative Government that seem to have no care for our vital services.

I’ve had to fight to protect our local hospital, our fire station and services for the homeless. I will continue to fight for our post offices, our nurseries, our transport and our schools. In Parliament, I will always challenge disgusting policies such as the ‘bedroom tax’ and the Government’s shameful decision to refuse help to unaccompanied child refugees.

Austerity has not worked for the country and it has not worked for Lewisham Deptford. The Government has failed to meet their deficit target year after year and locally we’ve seen a rise in youth violence, homelessness and child poverty.

Under a Labour Government it would be different. We know Labour will support our services, our rights and our jobs. We would see our education system properly funded, a minimum wage worth working for, and a benefit system that does not attack the most vulnerable people in society. These are the policies I want to see implemented and this is what I will be campaigning for between now and polling day on June 8th.
