At today’s UQ on the end of the eviction moratorium, I raised my constituent Nichola’s case. She’s struggling to find a new home after receiving a Section 21 ‘no-fault’ eviction notice and has set up a petition here (over 38K signatures already!): ow.ly/qBmk50Bz3F5
You can watch the video of my question below, but here is the text:
“My constituent Nichola is a keyworker. In May, her landlord served her with a Section 21 no-fault eviction notice, giving her three months to move out.
“Housing benefit will only cover a one bedroom flat for Nichola and her two teenaged daughters. Letting agents demand an above average income and the details of someone who earns more than £50,000 to guarantee the rent. What does the Minister suggest people in Nichola’s position do to provide a suitable home for their families during a pandemic?”
