Last night the Commons delivered another huge blow to Theresa May’s Brexit plans when we voted against her deal by 391 votes to 242.

My Labour colleagues and I continue to reject the deal because it won’t protect jobs, workplace rights or environmental standards; it won’t ensure frictionless trade for UK businesses; and it provides no certainty about our future relationship with the EU. We will support all efforts to prevent no deal and a damaging Tory Brexit, including supporting or tabling amendments to support a public vote.

Tonight we will vote on a no deal outcome. As you may remember, we had a non-binding vote on this at the end of January and MPs voted against no deal by a small majority. Although some MPs may have changed their minds in the intervening weeks, I am hopeful that a majority of us still recognise that a no deal outcome would be a devastating mistake for this country.
