The crisis in NHS funding continues to be an issue of high concern for many people in Lewisham Deptford. I’d like to reaffirm my commitment to standing up for the NHS and outline the action I’ve been taking.

I’ve previously outlined my concerns about the plight of our healthcare service and the abandonment of waiting time targets here: http://www.vickyfoxcroft.org.uk/nhs_waiting_times

Earlier this year, I campaigned against proposed cuts to CAMHS funding in Lewisham and was pleased to see Lewisham Council overturn their decision to cut CAHMHS. I also campaigned against the closure of the walk-in clinic at the Waldron Health Centre in New Cross, but unfortunately the closure went ahead and the walk-in centre was closed earlier this year.

I have been keeping up pressure on the Government by asking parliamentary questions on issues such as waiting times, GP to patient ratios and mental health services, as well as regularly writing to the Health Secretary about concerns raised by constituents. All of my written questions can be found here: https://www.parliament.uk/business/publications/written-questions-answers-statements/written-questions answers/?house=commons%2clords&max=20&member=4491&page=2&questiontype=AllQuestions

I have repeatedly called for a long-term investment plan for the NHS, backed by an additional £45 billion across the next Parliament. This would be funded by increasing taxation on the very wealthiest in society and would ensure a long-term, sustainable plan for the NHS.

I recently wrote the below letter to the former Health Secretary outlining my concerns and have now received this response:
